DETAILS OF THE DAY TRIP TO FES

Touring Morocco invites you to participate in this essential and enriching Guided Tour of Fez. This walking tour will be dedicated to exploring all that the spiritual capital of Morocco has to offer. In fact, Fez was the first imperial city founded by an Islamic dynasty (the Idrisid dynasty) in Morocco, which is why it is considered a spiritual and sacred capital. And it is a UNESCO world heritage site.

We will start the tour by picking you up from your accommodation or your preferred meeting place in the morning. We will guide you through the narrow streets of the old Medina of Fez, to learn more about the traditions and customs of the locals, and how they manage to live peacefully next to each other in a fully packed space. But one of the many things about the old medina is that cars are not allowed, making it one of the few pedestrian-only places in the world. You will also be able to discover the wide range of creative and traditional craft products displayed by artisans.

Our tour will also include the colorful Chouara leather tanneries, where you can find workers still using the same natural techniques of leather dyeing and processing, passed down from generation to generation. After that, we will visit a variety of buildings displaying the best Arabo-Islamic architecture, such as Al Quaraouine University (the oldest university in the world) and traditional Islamic madrasahs. When we’re done with that, we’ll explore the “Mellah” Jewish Quarter, which dates back to a time when Jews found refuge in Moroccan cities during the 17th century.

Finally, those were just some of the many things one can do and see in Fez, and we haven’t even mentioned all the museums and also the modern part of the city. Be sure to join this day tour to see it all for yourself. And we will end our guided tour of Fez.
